This is a guided walking tour of Carstowe Road Park, a natural area in the south of Moor Park that is being restored by Toronto Nature Stewards.
This is a free one-kilometer circular walk, guided by John Oyston, the Toronto Nature Stewards Lead Steward for Carstowe Rd. Participants will learn about the history of the park on the ancient Lake Iroquois shoreline, discover native trees, shrubs, and plants, and learn about the invasive species that threaten them. You will also find out how a small team of enthusiastic volunteer stewards is rescuing and restoring one of the City’s smallest parks.
What to Wear and Bring: Part of the walk will take place on a natural trail with slopes and uneven terrain. Please wear closed-toe footwear and long pants, and consider using bug spray.
Meeting Location: We will meet on the “Ramp”, the dark green pedestrian footbridge that goes over Carstowe Rd at MacLennan Ave; here is the exact location of the meeting place.
